KIQ Hosts Successful Community Dialogue Forum in Brisbane
The Kenyans in Queensland (KIQ) Committee recently hosted a community dialogue forum at the African Village in Moorooka, Brisbane, aimed at strengthening ties within the Kenyan diaspora and addressing key issues affecting the community. The event brought together Kenyans from Brisbane and beyond, fostering engaging discussions and meaningful collaboration.
A key highlight of the forum was the presence of the Mobile Consular Services (MCS) team, led by Mr. Alex Okitoyi, representing Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Ms. Roseline Kathure Njogu. Their participation provided an important platform for Kenyans to engage with government representatives on diaspora-related matters.

Although the Kenya High Commissioner to Australia was unable to attend, the forum was honored to welcome his representatives, Education Attaché Ms. Flora Mulatya and Missions Attaché Mr. Stephen Meeli. Their attendance reaffirmed the Kenyan government’s commitment to supporting its diaspora in Australia and addressing their needs.
Also in attendance was the newly elected president of the Queensland African Communities Council (QACC), Mr. Faysel Ahmed Selat, who delivered an inspiring address on unity and community development. His generous support in providing a venue for the forum was greatly appreciated by KIQ and the attendees.
