Britney Korir: Championing the Eradication of FGM and Empowering Young Girls

In 2024, the Kenyan Association of South Australia (KASA) honored Britney Korir with the Philanthropist of the Year award, recognizing her unwavering commitment to not only halting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) but striving for its complete eradication. As a Global Ambassador for the BET Group Foundation, Britney has been instrumental in empowering over 1,500 girls across Bomet, Nakuru, and, most recently, Kericho counties in Kenya.

A Personal Mission Rooted in Family Legacy

Britney's dedication to ending FGM is deeply personal. Her mother, Emily Korir, a stroke survivor and disability advocate, was subjected to FGM at the age of 13 while pregnant with Britney . This traumatic experience has fueled both Emily's and Britney's passion to prevent other young girls from enduring similar ordeals.BET Group Foundation -Ability Magazine+1SBS Australia+1
