The Kenyan Community in Victoria (KCV) is gearing up for a pivotal chapter as it prepares to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Leadership Committee Elections in June 2025. With all committee positions declared vacant, community members are being called upon to step forward and take the reins in shaping the future of the Kenyan diaspora in the state.
The AGM, tentatively scheduled for mid to late June (exact date and venue to be confirmed), will not only reflect on the year’s achievements and challenges but also usher in a new era of leadership. The KCV committee has released a full list of 24 roles open for nomination, ranging from Chairperson and Treasurer to Youth, Mental Health, Events, and Regional Coordinators.
“This is a moment for our community to reflect, regroup, and rise,” said current KCV Chairperson Justin Njuguna in an official statement. “The opportunity to lead is open to all Kenya community members residing in Victoria. It is not just a responsibility but a calling — to contribute ideas, energy, and integrity to a cause larger than self.”
The leadership transition comes at a time when KCV has grown to become one of the most active and admired African community organisations in Australia. Its initiatives have consistently been used as benchmarks by other diaspora groups for effective community engagement, cultural celebration, and wellbeing programs.
Committee Roles Open for Expression of Interest (EOI)
KCV will begin receiving EOIs in two weeks, with community-wide awareness campaigns taking place across digital and in-person platforms to encourage participation. Among the roles open for nomination are:

In a strong call to action, Mr. Njuguna emphasized that “sacrifice and commitment” are essential qualities for incoming leaders, alongside a mindset rooted in integrity, accountability, and service. He confirmed that all applicants will undergo a vetting process to ensure suitability and commitment to the community’s values.
Membership and Voting Rights
KCV is also offering a limited-time discount on its annual membership — reduced to $50 for the next two months. Membership confers voting rights and access to exclusive community events and discounts.

In his message, Mr. Njuguna reflected on his time as Chairperson with heartfelt appreciation, describing his service as “a journey of significant sacrifice” and “an honour and privilege.”
“Despite the many challenges, our community remains resilient, vibrant, and dynamic,” he noted. Quoting Matthew 23:11–12, he concluded his message with a spiritual reminder: “The greatest among you will be your servant.”
As KCV prepares for a leadership handover, the upcoming AGM marks more than just a meeting—it symbolizes a renewed invitation for collective responsibility, shared vision, and unity among Kenyans living in Victoria.
