This past weekend, the Kenyans in New South Wales (KcNSW) community came together for a double dose of inspiration and impact—celebrating legacy, empowerment, and the strength of collaboration across African-Australian communities.
Friday Night: The Gitau Foundation Launch
The weekend kicked off with the official launch of the Gitau Foundation, an evening that honoured not only the vision and leadership of its founders but also the powerful message of legacy in action. The room was filled with heartfelt testimonies, uplifting music, and a spirit of unity that reminded all present of the value of purpose-driven service. Congratulations to the Gitau Foundation team for a meaningful and impactful start.
Saturday: Building Generational Wealth
The momentum continued on Saturday with a Financial Empowerment & Generational Wealth Seminar, hosted in partnership with African Professionals Australia (APA), Zimbabwe Community Australia (ZIMMA), and the African Australian Advocacy Centre (AAAC).
Attendees were treated to practical, forward-thinking conversations around financial literacy, wealth creation, property ownership, and long-term planning. From professionals to young families, everyone walked away equipped with knowledge and tools to create a more financially secure future—for themselves and for generations to come.
Community in Action
From volunteers to speakers, from attendees to organisers, this weekend was a true example of what happens when community members show up and pour into one another. As Monicah, Vice President of KcNSW, put it:
