In an inspiring show of collaboration between Kenya and New Zealand, Future Skills, in partnership with the High Commission of the Republic of Kenya, has unveiled two Special Kenyan Scholarships designed to support exceptional students pursuing postgraduate studies in Auckland. This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to equip Kenyan youth with the knowledge and global exposure needed to thrive in today’s innovation-driven economy.
Each scholarship will fund the first 12 months of an 18-month Master’s programme, valued at NZD $27,000, significantly reducing the financial burden for students. Recipients will only contribute tuition fees for the final six months of study, making this one of the most accessible international postgraduate opportunities for Kenyans in recent years.
Students can choose between two advanced programmes — the Master of Applied Management (Business Management) or the Master of Applied Management (Business Information Systems) — both designed to prepare graduates for leadership roles in global business environments.
Applications officially open on Thursday 30 October 2025 and close on Monday 1 December 2025, with classes beginning in April 2026. Future Skills has also provided flexibility for deferrals in case of visa processing delays.
To qualify, applicants must hold a Kenyan passport, reside in Kenya at the time of application, and be aged between 18 and 35 years. They are also expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a minimum average grade of B- or higher. In addition, candidates must demonstrate English proficiency through an IELTS 6.5 score (no band lower than 6.0) or an acceptable equivalent test under New Zealand standards.
Applying for the scholarship is straightforward. Interested students are encouraged to apply directly through the Future Skills website at www.futureskills.co.nz/applications between 30 October and 1 December. Required documents include academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, a CV, and a valid passport. Successful applicants will need to receive an unconditional offer by 5 December 2025 to be considered for the final selection round.
The Future Skills team will contact the two selected winners by mid-December, after which they will receive revised offer letters reflecting their scholarship awards. Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified accordingly.
