Mr & Miss Taunet 2026 is set to bring culture, confidence, creativity and community pride to Melbourne this November. Presented by Taunet Nelel, the pageant will bring together contestants, families and supporters in Dandenong for a celebration of African heritage, emerging talent and the personalities behind the crown.
Taunet Nelel is preparing to place culture, creativity and community pride firmly in the spotlight as the Mr & Miss Taunet Beauty Pageant returns for its fourth edition.
Taking place on Saturday, 7 November 2026, from 2:00pm to 11:00pm at Almas Receptions in Dandenong, the event will bring together contestants, families, friends and members of Melbourne’s wider African community for an afternoon and evening centred on talent, confidence, cultural expression and leadership.
Over the past five years, Taunet Nelel has developed the pageant as more than a competition. It has become a platform for participants to celebrate identity, express creativity and represent their community while building confidence in front of an audience.

The 2026 edition continues that focus with a format designed to include different generations. The competition will feature four phases covering Kids aged 0–9, Young Adults aged 10–16, Adults aged 16 and above, as well as a Couple Edition.
Contestants will be challenged to show much more than appearance. The program includes National or State representation, where participants can represent an African country other than Kenya, alongside Professional, Creative or Fantasy, and Dinner or Official Wear presentations.
Together, the categories give contestants an opportunity to bring their personality, heritage, imagination and individual style to the stage.
It is an approach that reflects the wider message behind the pageant: “Be the legacy. Inspire the future. Represent Taunet with pride.”
Expressions of Interest are now open for prospective contestants, who can enter individually or as a couple. Participants will be expected to compete across the relevant categories while embracing the event’s values of respect, culture and good conduct.
With prizes of up to $1,000 on offer, there is plenty at stake, but the event’s appeal extends beyond the competition itself.
For those in the audience, Mr & Miss Taunet 2026 promises a celebration filled with cultural expression, fashion, creativity, entertainment and community connection before the next titleholders are crowned.
The pageant also provides an intergenerational space for cultural identity to be shared. Bringing children, young people, adults and couples onto the same platform creates an opportunity for different generations to participate in the celebration rather than simply watch from the sidelines.
For younger members of the diaspora, that visibility can provide a meaningful connection to heritage. For parents, families and the wider community, it is also an opportunity to support emerging talent and celebrate the traditions, creativity and stories being carried forward in Australia.
Under the message “One Culture. One Purpose. One Brotherhood,” Taunet Nelel is positioning this year’s pageant as a celebration of both individual confidence and collective identity.
Tickets are now available through the Taunet Nelel website, while registrations through the Expression of Interest process remain open for those hoping to take their place on the stage.
When the crowns are eventually presented, the pageant will have showcased something broader than its titleholders. At its heart, Mr & Miss Taunet 2026 is about creating a stage where culture can be seen, talent can be recognised and another generation can represent its community with pride.
