The Kenyan community in Australia is mourning the sudden death of 27-year-old Laurynhill Wambui Kimemia, who lost her life following a road crash in Western Australia. As her family comes to terms with the devastating loss, friends and community members have rallied together to help return Laurynhill home to Kenya for her final farewell.

Laurynhill died following a vehicle collision on the South Western Highway in Balingup, Western Australia, on 28 September 2026. Her partner, who was travelling with her, survived the crash and was taken to hospital for treatment.

News of Laurynhill’s passing has brought immense grief to her family both in Australia and Kenya.

For the Kenyan community in Australia, the tragedy has also become another moment in which people are being called upon to stand alongside a family facing an unimaginable loss far from home.

A fundraising appeal has been established in Perth to support Laurynhill’s family with the costs of repatriating her remains from Australia to Kenya, as well as associated funeral and transportation expenses. The appeal identifies Laurynhill as the sister of Naomi Kimani, who is based in Perth.

The family hopes to bring Laurynhill home to Kenya, where she can be laid to rest surrounded by family and loved ones.

Community members who are able to assist have been encouraged to contribute towards the repatriation effort. Those unable to make a financial contribution can support the family by sharing the appeal and keeping Laurynhill’s family, loved ones and her recovering partner in their thoughts and prayers.

Further details regarding memorial arrangements in Australia are expected to be shared once confirmed.

As messages of support continue to reach the family, Laurynhill’s passing is being felt across a community connected across two countries.

Kenyans in Australia extends its deepest condolences to Laurynhill Wambui Kimemia’s family, friends and everyone affected by her passing.

May Laurynhill rest in peace, and may her family find strength and support from the community during this difficult period.
