Waridi Women’s Group Celebrates International Women’s Day with a Powerful Gathering
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, the Waridi Women’s Group hosted a memorable event to celebrate International Women’s Day. It was an inspiring occasion that brought together women and children from diverse backgrounds to reflect on empowerment, resilience, and community support. This event primarily focused on Kenyans in Queensland, with a special emphasis on supporting and uplifting Kenyan women in the region.
Waridi is a new community initiative dedicated to uplifting women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds. The name "Waridi"—meaning rose—symbolizes both beauty and strength. Just like a rose, women thrive when nurtured with support, love, and opportunities. The thorns serve as a reminder of resilience, showing that despite life’s challenges, women persevere and flourish.
The event featured insightful discussions on women’s empowerment, personal growth, and overcoming barriers in various aspects of life. Attendees engaged in meaningful conversations, fostering connections and encouraging one another to embrace their strength.
A heartfelt thank you to every woman and child who attended and contributed to making this event special. Waridi continues to create a space where women can grow, support each other, and celebrate their achievements. This gathering was just the beginning of a journey toward a stronger, more connected community.
